On this special occasion, I reflect with gratitude, the pioneers of copyright in Québec. Diane Juster, Luc Plamondon, Gilles Valiquette, Lise Aubut and many others. It is thanks to their determination that we have become such a strong group.
We continue to follow in the footsteps of these trailblazers.
Quebec music and culture is an important and powerful part of what makes Canda and SOCAN special.
But we know that Québec’s songwriters, composers and music publishers are facing unique challenges; we understand those challenges and we’re by your side to meet them.
Your music deserves to be heard, respected and rewarded.
You have to be able to earn a living and support your family by creating music.
A thriving Québec music ecosystem is essential, not just for Québec, but for all of Canada.

RICHARD SÉGUIN
With his 13 solo albums and seven collaborative albums, Richard Séguin is, without the shadow of a doubt, one of Québec’s most important singer-songwriters. He is a passionate advocate for social and political causes that reflect his values of human dignity and the quest for justice.
